Michele Meek pioneered the development of NewEnglandFilm.com, the premiere magazine and resource for indie filmmaking in the northeast in 1997. She also founded Little Plum Pictures and wrote and directed Red Sneakers, which premiered at the Woods Hole Film Festival in 2008 and received second place in the children's category at the Rhode Island International Film Festival. Her other recent films include The Missing Flinck, a Boston 48 Hour Film Project, and the first in a series on women and sexuality, Conversations with Women. Over the years, her expertise has spanned the film, publishing and web industries. Currently she is publisher and board member of the nonprofit Independent Media Publications which has relaunched AIVF's The Independent film magazine. Respected as a young entrepreneur and champion of independent film, she received the 2005 Baldwin Award for Alumni Recognition in Film & Video by Boston College and the 2000 Image Award for Vision and Excellence by Women in Film & Video New England. Her entrepreneurial successes have been lauded in Inc. Magazine, National Public Radio, and The Boston Globe and she has spoken on numerous panels including the National Alliance for Media Arts & Culture, Convergence at Tribeca, Global Entertainment Network Summit. |

She has also received accolades for her creative endeavors. She received the Duprey Screenwriting Award for her short script One More Shot at Emerson College where she earned her MFA in writing. She co-produced the movie version of the script as part of the compilation video Boxer Shorts, awarded 1996 Best Video Award at the Temecula Valley Film Festival. She has written extensively on film and travel in leading publications such as MovieMaker Magazine, the Independent Film & Video Monthly, WHERE Magazine, Bonjour Paris and indieWIRE.
